in a forgiving hemisphere just

the other side of here    in

between suckin’ down sweet clementine oranges &

doin’ the cupid slide all by myself

whenever a really good song comes on

I am weaving memory

as it suits me

a gray helix of selective amnesia

Paris—yes                             Ypsilanti—no

watching the dog roll in the snow—yes

maggotbastard I dated for too long—no

pink cotton candy

       Chewbacca

      saxophones—yes

                                                     car accident

                                                bosses

                                                       funerals—no

things I knew:  things I know:  things I’ve done:  things I do

cluster together

tumble & roll into each other   a bowl

of cold grapes in July

I’ve known for a long time it’s all on the same vine

unedited    sampled    savored

my messes:  near-misses:  sins & blessings:  mistakes galore including

underwire bras & lyin’ men:  the rare brilliance:  good judgment:  best

cha-cha:  so-so salsa:  all the animals:  the discernible seasons   all

comes down to this:  it’s the bitter what makes us better

own it

own it

own it

ALL     can you dance to this?
